The iconic beauty of the Tribune Tower and surrounding buildings in the light of dusk shows off urban Oakland at its best. The 22-story Tribune Building and Tower is located at 409 - 13th Street. The six-story building (designed by D. Franklin Oliver) was built in 1906 and the tower (designed by Edward T. Foulkes) was later added in the 1920s. The tower was inspired by the campanile of Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Italy
